Knowing how they impact the game will make you a stronger player.
Monopoly Cards
A standard Monopoly set has 16 Community Chest cards and 16 Chance cards. Some cards have changed over time. In March 2021, Hasbro decided to change Community Chest cards.
The impact cards have on Monopoly hasn’t changed.
Community Chest
Community Chest cards focus on money. Nine Community Chest cards award money. Four make you pay — typically larger sums than Chance. Two move your token. And one is also a “Get Out of Jail Free” card.
Chance
Chance will typically move your token to a new square. Ten of the Chance cards move your token. Three make you pay money. And two Chance cards reward money. The remaining Chance card is “Get Out of Jail Free.”
